PALM BEACH COUNTY LEARNING TEAM WORKSHOP MINUTES
Minutes: Dr. Johnson outlined the purpose of Learning Team meetings and introduced Alison Adler, Chief of Safety Learning and Environment, who reviewed the following: Creating a Single School Culture; Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum: Opportunity to Learn; Return on Investment; The Focus of Learning Team Meetings; Rigor/Relevance Framework; Levels of Rigor and Relevance; Compare and Contrast Two Short Stories; What do Rigor and Relevance Look Like in Test Questions?; FCAT Reading % of Points - Bloom's Taxonomy; and Supporting Resources and Agencies. Rose Backus, Assistant Director of Safe Schools, entertained questions from Board Members and reviewed sample test questions. Dr. Johnson thanked Ms. Killets, Dr. Adler and Ms. Backus for their presentation and emphasized the need for this program is to produce rigor in the classroom. Board Members discussed the following topics: Education Trust observing Learning Teams (Robinson); unified assessment (Robinson); and facilitators (Burdick).
